Porter Building Co. was founded in 2008 by Greenville NC native, Matt Porter.
Matt was born and raised here in Greenville. Upon graduating college from N.C. State University, Matt moved back to Greenville with his wife, Kristen. Immediately entering the residential real estate sector, Matt learned first hand the hopes and desires of future home owners. With a passion to grow and in pursuit of building excellence, Matt began his building career. From residential sales, land development, commercial modifications, extensive remodeling, and fine custom home building, Matt has acquired a unique skillset and knowledge of the building process from the ground up. With a focus on new home and custom home construction, as well as extensive home renovations, Matt has built a reputation as building one of the premier builders in Pitt County.
Matt and his wife have been married for 19 years and have 4 children. He is an avid outdoorsman, and loves spending time serving at his church and watching his children’s sporting events.

Chris Cannon, Field Superintendent, started with Porter Building Co. in March 2020. Matt and Chris began a working relationship in 2008, as Chris was a subcontractor for Porter Building Co. for over 13 years. Chris is a longtime resident of Pitt County, who has worked within the construction industry for over 20 years. With extensive experience in exteriors and heavy equipment, Chris brings a valuable set of skills to the business. Chris and his wife have been married for 27 years and have 3 children.
